Declaration of Faith

About the Bible

We believe that Scripture is the true revelation of God, verbally and plenarily inspired by the Holy Spirit in the original manuscripts of the Old and New Testaments. We believe in the inerrancy and infallibility of the Scriptures as the supreme and final authoritative standard of the faith that defines the final authority for human conduct.

About God

Isaiah 44:6 We believe in the one living and true God, who is Spirit. One Triune God in essence who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with inherent attributes such as: Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Holy, and Immutable. His names teach that He is a Person, who relates to the people whom He created and to whom He gave His love.

About Christ

Hebrews 1:1–4 We believe in the deity of Christ; as such, He is pre-existent and possesses all the attributes of God. In His humanity, He was without sin. We believe in His propitiatory death for all humanity, and His literal resurrection constitutes Him as the only Savior. We believe that Christ is the Head of the Church, and that He ascended and intercedes for His children.

About the Holy Spirit

Acts 5:3–4 We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit; as such, He possesses all the attributes of God. In everything He glorifies the Son, Jesus Christ. He has personality, convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, comforts (guides, teaches, intercedes), is the Author of regeneration, dwells in all believers, whom He baptizes, seals, and grants spiritual gifts.

About Angels

Job 38:7; Ephesians 2:2 We believe that angels are created spiritual beings. They have power but are not omnipotent. They were created good, but some fell. Those who did not fall are angels, ministers of God; those who fell are demons. We believe that Satan is the prince of the demons; he is the father of lies, a deceiver, and evil. He is the enemy of God and of the saints. All demons have been defeated. They must be resisted with spiritual weapons, and their destiny is the lake of fire.

Biblical Basis: Job 1:6, Job 38:7, Ps. 148:2–5, Col. 1:16, 2 Pet. 2:11, Matt. 26:53, 1 Pet. 3:22, Jude 9, Ezek. 28:15, 2 Pet. 2:4, Gen. 1:31, Jude 6, 2 Pet. 2:4, Heb. 1:7, Heb. 1:14, Mark 5:12–13, 2 Chron. 18:21, Rev. 12:7, Eph. 2:2, John 8:44, 2 Chron. 18:21, Rev. 12:9, 2 Cor. 11:3, 1 John 5:19, 1 John 3:12, Eph. 6:12, Zech. 3:1, Col. 2:15, 1 Pet. 3:22, Eph. 6:11, 2 Cor. 10:4, Rev. 20:10, Matt. 25:41.

About Man

We believe that man is a being created in the likeness and image of God, created innocent with an eternal soul. Having fallen because of the sin imputed from Adam, he is now born with a sinful nature, under spiritual and physical death. Man, separated from God, is without remedy, condemned, guilty, and without excuse, incapable of remedying his state of eternal punishment.

Biblical Basis: Isaiah 64:8, Psalm 100:3, Genesis 1:26, James 3:9, Genesis 9:6, 1 Corinthians 11:7, Ephesians 4:24, Genesis 1:31, Matthew 10:28, Revelation 6:9, Romans 5:12, 1 Corinthians 15:21, Psalm 51:5, Psalm 58:3, Ephesians 2:1, Ephesians 5:14, Hebrews 9:27, Ecclesiastes 9:5, Ephesians 2:12, John 3:36; 3:18, 2 Thessalonians 2:12, Isaiah 64:6, Romans 3:9, Romans 2:1, Romans 1:20, Psalm 49:7, and Romans 3:23.

About Sin

We believe that sin is everything that goes against the character of God—actions, thoughts, and nature that are contrary to the nature of God. We believe that sin originated in the universe through Satan; in the human race through Adam; and in the individual through inheritance and personal actions. Man is born in sin and lives in sin, suffering physical, spiritual, and eternal death.

Biblical Basis: Isaiah 1:2, Jeremiah 2:5, Micah 6:12, James 4:17, Genesis 6:5, Proverbs 6:18, Genesis 8:21, Romans 1:21, Ezekiel 28:16–17, Romans 5:12, 1 Corinthians 15:21, John 3:6, Psalm 51:5, Ephesians 2:1–2, Psalm 51:3, Psalm 51:5, Job 15:14, John 8:24, Romans 3:9, Proverbs 8:33, John 8:24, Ephesians 2:1–2, Colossians 2:13, Matthew 18:9, and Revelation 21:8.

About Salvation

Salvation comes through personally receiving Christ. Christ is the only way to heaven. Whoever believes in Christ receives the Holy Spirit and enjoys the privileges of the saints: regeneration, justification, adoption, being part of the Church, sanctification, and glorification. Salvation is secure. The redemptive work is complete in union with Christ for victory, once and for all. It is by grace, undeserved; by faith, not by works.

Biblical Basis: John 1:12, Matthew 10:40, John 17:3, John 14:6, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 4:6, 1 Corinthians 1:30, Colossians 2:10, John 3:6, Titus 3:5, 1 Corinthians 6:11, Romans 5:1, Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:5, Ephesians 5:29–30, 1 Corinthians 12:27–28a, 1 Corinthians 6:11, 1 Peter 1:2, Romans 8:17, Colossians 3:4, John 6:39, Colossians 2:10, Hebrews 5:9, Romans 6:8, 1 Corinthians 15:57, Hebrews 6:4–6, Ephesians 2:8, Romans 3:24, Romans 5:6, Colossians 2:13, Romans 3:22, Galatians 2:16, Ephesians 2:9, and 2 Timothy 1:9.

About the Church

We believe that the Church began at Pentecost, made up of New Testament believers connected to the universal Church, who gather locally, establish leaders, and observe the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that the Church is the body and the bride of Christ, called to love, holiness, good works, evangelism, preaching, worship, ministry, teaching, and discipleship.

About the Last Things

We believe in the rapture of the Church, the Tribulation, the Great Judgment Seat of Christ, and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb in heaven. We believe in the second coming of Christ, the rapture in relation to the Millennium, the Millennial Kingdom, the Great White Throne, the resurrection of the wicked for judgment, unbelievers in eternal torment in the Lake of Fire, and the redeemed in eternal delight.
